Major Education Seminar - Leading in a Time of Challenge
Seminar for DEIS Primary & Post-Primary School Leaders
On 19th April the NEWB supported by IPPN and NAPD hosted a seminar for DEIS primary and post-primary school leaders in Croke Park. The NEWB has responsibility for critical supports in DEIS schools - namely HSCL and SCP. The Educational Welfare Service has a national remit where DEIS is prioritised.
The seminar was a resounding success with 398 participants. The seminar was opened by Frances Fitzgerald T.D., Minister for Children and Youth Affairs

- Dr Ruby Payne
- Dr Deirdre Mathews.
Attendees also included Dermot Mulligan Assistant Secretary General DES, Catriona O Brien PO Social Inclusion DES, Jim Breslin, Secretary General DCYA, Mary Doyle, Director General & Mary McLoughlin PO DCYA Teresa Griffin CEO NCSE, Ferdia Kelly General Secretary JMB , Michael Moriarty General Secretary IVEA, Aodhan O Riordan TD.
The highlight had to be the performance by St Agnes and Scoil Colm parents and childrens' Orchestra captured beautifully in the Irish Times on Friday 20th!
